Dave had a meeting at church last night so I made last minute plans to take the boys to Chick-fil-a for a fun dinner and playtime with friends.
Unfortunately, Chick-fil-a was a madhouse. (Yes, I use this term loosely, as Chick-fil-a is always somewhat of a madhouse but last night was extra special crazy).
Apparently, it was “Spirit Night” for one of the local elementary schools. Don’t get me wrong, this is a wonderful fundraiser and I fully support it, I just don’t want to be there while it’s going on.
So, we made a quick decision and changed our plans. We all got our food to go and took it over to my house since I live about 2 minutes from Chick-fil-a.
On a side note, living 2 minutes from Chick-fil-a is a blessing and a curse. Remember my post about how I try to feed the boys nutritious meals? Chick-fil-a doesn’t count. I remember reading somewhere that they cook their food in “better-for-you oil.” Granted, I don’t remember the name of this magical oil or the details from the “article” (or if I even read this, I may have made it up entirely). No worries about details like credible news sources, this bit of information is all the ammo I need to keep Chick-fil-a on the menu for our family.
Two additional reasons to keep Chick-fil-a on the family menu:
1. It’s delicious. I’m sorry but those chicken sandwiches are cooked in pure goodness (maybe that’s the special “oil”?).
2. The boys love to run around in the playground – a bonus for me when I’m trying to wear them out. And, anyone with two 1 1/2 year old BOYS knows a thing or two about “trying to wear them out.”
Sorry, that was a tangent… back to the story at hand: We came back to my house for us mama’s to calm our nerves and for the kiddos to play together. We were quite proud of our last minute change of plans. It turned into a really fun night! I was able to have some much needed catch up time with my friends and the kiddos all ate and then played together. They all get along so well and my boys always love seeing these sweet friends.
|Does it get much cuter than this?! I LOVE this group of kiddos so much!!!|
I am so blessed with these friendships, these kiddos all belong to friends that I have known for a long time. We have shared so many memories together and now we are sharing the joy of watching our little ones grow up along side one another. It makes this wild ride of motherhood so much easier to manage when you have other mama’s to commiserate and laugh with. I am so grateful for these girls!
