We are home!
Aww…it feels SO good to be home. Together once again as a little family of four in our corner of the world.
The boys and I had a wonderful time visiting my family and I will share more about the trip soon. At the moment, my brain is complete mush from exhaustion so I will simply say that we made it back home safe and sound and I’ll share a couple of thoughts from the flight.
Thought #1: This morning’s flight was quite possibly the longest few hours I’ve ever spent on an airplane. Yes, I’m actually considering that it may have been longer and more stressful than the time I was on a plane and one of engines caught on fire. I held the hand of the sweet little old lady in the seat next to me and prayed while we braced for an emergancy landing. Yep. I think this was more stressful than that. But it could be the exhaustion talking. I tend to be a bit melodramatic when I haven’t had enough sleep.
Thought #2: When involved in a battle of wills with two tired and cranky two-year olds, no amount of snacks, books, or toys will diffuse the situation. Sleep, precious sleep is the only weapon that will make a dent in the onslaught of tantrums.
You see, we woke up at 5am this morning so we were a tired and cranky group. The boys were fighting sleep and each other the entire flight. Luckily, they finally passed out about a half an hour before landing. They were out when we landed so waking them up to get off the plane was another round of pure fun.
The looks of horror from other passengers as I tried to manage the screaming kiddos and the three carry-on bags were the exact opposite of the looks of admiration I swore I received on the flight last week. I knew I should have kept that little thought to myself. Sweet reader, you knew it would backfire, didn’t you?
Of course, I need to share a little photo recap of our morning…
Walking through security with Papa
Saying goodbye before boarding…we went through security and right onto the plane. No waiting in the airport this time!
Ben sat so well in the seat belt when we first boarded. The 45 minute delay on the runway was EXTREMELY detrimental. This photo was taken during the calm before the storm.
They were laying on top of one another once they finally fell asleep. I was SO thankful for these moments of rest.
Look who met us at the gate!!!!!
My three loves!
Look at the surprise Dave had waiting for me! He built a fence around our yard. I am SO thrilled about this because now the boys are contained and I don’t have to be so nervous about the road in front of our house when we are playing outside. And, there is the small fact that the boys can now unlock and open the front door and like to sneak out. They are FAST!
I never pictured myself as a white picket fence kind of gal but I’m kind of loving it.
*I need to take a better photo…I just snapped this one with my phone but you get the general idea.
