I went to Kansas City this weekend to hear Beth Moore speak on Friday evening and Saturday morning. As always, she was incredibly inspiring and God spoke through Beth’s words. I have a lot to say about what I learned (surprise, I know!) but I’m still processing it all and I want to take the time to really put some thought into what words I use to describe that experience.
In the meantime, I wanted to share a couple of sweet stories from our little clan today. I want to record these perfect, little moments that make this life so special…
Perfect Moment #1:
Ben has taken up the adorable little habit of waking me up in the morning (when Dave gets up with them first) by tiptoeing up the stairs (sarcasm, folks. I truly think he tries to be quiet but it just isn’t possible. I can hear those little feet stomping up the stairs no matter how deep a sleep I’m in) and giggling as he walks into my room. He grabs my hand and shouts, “Mama!” Then, he gently takes my glasses off my bedside table and hands them to me while pulling on my arm to join the fun downstairs.
It doesn’t matter how early it is or how tired I am, there is NO way I could ever not follow him anywhere with a wake-up call like that. I just grab that chubby little hand and follow my sweet boy where he leads.
Perfect Moment #2:
I’ll be honest, the word “perfect” was not exactly the word I would have initially chosen to describe this next little incident. But, now that I’m wearing the rose colored glasses of hindsight, I think it was perfectly hilarious.
So, here’s the deal…for whatever reason, Ben has to come into the bathroom and grab a front row seat whenever Nathan uses the potty. No joke. He likes to lean right on over and watch the action.
Of course, this grosses me out to no end. He puts his hands RIGHT ON THE SEAT. Disgusting.
I have had zero success at trying to stop this nonsense so I am hoping he is using this as a learning thing. Maybe he is just checking it all out to see if it’s worth diving into the world of “big boy potty use” for himself.
Now, as if that isn’t awesome enough all by itself, while he was watching the action this morning, Ben accidentally dropped his pacifier in the potty.
Did you catch the teensy little detail that there was already “action” happening in there?
Looking back, I’m sure there were other ways I could have handled this situation but I panicked when he tried to reach in to retrieve his beloved paci and I just grabbed it.
With. my. bare. hands.
I have scrubbed the skin off my hands from washing today.
Perfect Moment #3:
Daddy: “Nathan, where’s your other shoe?”
Nathan: ” Ummm…I don’t know.” (sounds like, “I dono”)
Nathan points under the couch.
Daddy: “Is it under here?”
Daddy: “Are you sure?”
Then, he looked like he had an epiphany and yelled, “Chi Chi!”
Daddy: “Did Chi Chi take it?”
Chi Chi is what he calls our dog, Chiquita.
These little conversations just melt my heart.
Perfect Moment #4:
Watching cartoons this morning. Are you kidding me with this cuteness? I love it.
Nathan’s eye looks awful from the table incident the other day…poor little man!!!!
Blessings to you all!
