Nathan’s ear tube surgery went really well yesterday – thank you all for the prayers!
A little recap…
Unfortunately, he had woken up really early Friday morning around 3:30 am and would not go back to sleep. I brought him to bed with us because I didn’t want him to wake up Ben.
Surprise. Surprise. That plan backfired. Not only did he wake Ben up (Dave ended up sleeping in the rocking chair with Ben in their room…he loved that) but he also kept me up with his tossing and turning.
In case you’ve never experienced it for yourself, trust me on this one: it’s tough to sleep with a foot lodged against your cheek.
Nathan finally fell back asleep at 5:45. Perfect timing, of course. We had to be at the surgery center at 6:30. I hated to wake him back up but he was surprisingly calm and not cranky at all as we put him in the car and headed off. Dave and I had tiptoed out of the house with him just waiting for the inevitable screaming fit to begin. We were pleasantly surprised that it never happened. He didn’t even seem to mind not having anything to eat or drink before the surgery. I prayed specifically about that one…I am grateful for that answered prayer!
In case you’re doing the math in your head, we do have another kiddo. Nope, we didn’t leave Ben at home by himself. Dave’s parents and Aunt Katie came over to watch Ben so Dave and I could both go with Nathan. They ended up just drinking coffee and chatting because Ben seemed to really enjoy the quiet morning without Nathan and slept until 8:15! We were home before he even woke up.

|Recovering…he seemed to want the banana I had in my purse.
The banana quickly made it’s way back up and into the garbage can. We decided to wait a little longer before attempting any more food…
